A great time was had by all at our Christmas Party this year! Members donned a varied selection of festive jumpers and headgear and a choice of edible goodies was provided by the committee. We had a ‘quilting quiz’ courtesy of Kate Large which had everyone wracking their brains. Members work was on display for Tilly’s shield and the Chairman’s challenge along with some Show and Tell items.
Tilly’s shield is awarded annually for a completed piece of work started at a workshop during the year and is chosen by members. Congratulations went to Marion Thompson for her stunning little fairy boots started at the Annette Emms workshop in October. The shield was presented by current chairman Carolyn Finch wearing a fetching set of antlers!
The Chairman’s Challenge for 2015 was to produce a 12 x 18 inch quilt on the theme ‘ holiday’ set by Caroline Daniels. Huge congratulations to Phoebe Bartleet for winning this year with her fabulous design depicting her happy time spent in Venice (displayed here by Caroline).
There were many amazing entries which made it a difficult choice!
There was also an opportunity for members to do a Show and Tell. Firstly we saw a fabulous line up of Christmas tree wall hangings (and proud owners) produced at a special Saturday workshop run by Jackie Sparks. Jackie had designed the tree pattern and the hangings were made with the use of a special ‘little twister tool”.
In the next photos, there are two recent makes by Kate Large – a Christmas tree skirt modelled brilliantly by Kate herself and a ballerina bag – both incredible! These are followed by Kate in quiz master mode.
