For this year’s exhibition, we decided to make two children’s quilts to be raffled in aid of the Rose Road Association. The quilts were designed by Jackie Sparks and made by members. The quilts have come a long way since construction started in Nov 2015 in Romsey School following which they were long-arm quilted by Lovingly Quilted and the edges bound. The quilts then appeared in various locations during 2016 including Romsey Market, Netley Marsh Country Fair and Choice Plants in Timsbury finally joining the 2017 exhibition in Romsey Abbey.
At our last meeting in July, Romsey Quilters were delighted to present a cheque for an incredible £2,700 to Kim of the Rose Road Association. This will go towards the total they need to raise this year to continue their amazing work supporting children and adults with complex and multiple disabilities and health needs and their families
The draw for the quilts was made by Kim at the presentation and the quilts have since been delivered to the two delighted winners.
There was thanks all round as we reflected on a successful 2017 exhibition at our meeting on 25 July. Jackie Sparks thanked all the individuals who contributed to the success of the exhibition (including husbands and other family member who got involved!) along with the team at Romsey Abbey. Judy Elson gave her thanks to Chris and to all who had contributed to the sales table and Dick Hewitt (Romsey Festival) gave his thanks to the members of Romsey Quilters and to the festival photographer Malcolm who has captured some amazing shots of all the festival activities.
